Like in any good relationship, trust is very important. Trust helps to create a sense of safety and accountability. Essentially, your client is counting on you to create something that will benefit their business and you need to ensure that your client feels comfortable with you being able to get the job done.
These 3 simple things will help gain your client’s trust:
Do company research and give feedback on previous projects - this shows your client/potential client that you can help bring constructive feedback and input to the table
Ask questions about the company - especially if there are aspects in the company that you don’t understand, this shows that you are interested in them and willing to learn more about the company and their specific future goals and interests
Make the meeting conversational. If you can see your client is excited about something, ask them why and engage. At the end of the day, you aren’t talking to robots.
Remember - turn all of your meetings into a conversation, this will help to gain your client’s trust.
