...The one that works for you! Some people like to say that one is better than the other, but it's a pointless argument. All video editing software have their pros and cons.
DaVinci Resolve, Premiere Pro, Final Cut, Avid are all amazing for different uses.
I have broken down DaVinci Resolve, Premiere Pro and Final Cut X below:
DaVinci Resolve - Perfect to start off with, because it is free to use. You can purchase the full version later on, however, there is still a surprising amount of work that you can get done with the free version. The paid version is a once-off payment. The user interface (UI) is intuitive, it’s really fast (if you have the right hardware) AND Resolve is known to have the industry’s best colour grading tools. So for advanced colourists, DaVinci Resolve is for you!
The infamous Premiere Pro - This is what we have been using because we invested in the whole Adobe Suite. It is known to crash a lot - but on our PC and Mac, it’s been pretty reliable for the past year. We almost switched to DaVinci Resolve, but it’s hard to let go. Plus, the flexibility of having After Effects and Audition is great! If you have the whole suite, using Photoshop and Illustrator to tweak assets given to you by clients makes it invaluable.
Final Cut X - this is Apple's native video editing software. As you can guess, you need an Apple device to run it. Honestly, I don't have experience with it, however I hear it’s amazing IF you have a mid to high tier Mac device.
To conclude, if you’re starting off with video editing. DaVinci Resolve is perfect because it’s free, great for beginners and advanced users. If you have the Adobe Suite and use Adobe's apps, Premiere Pro is a nice addition. If you’re an Apple user, love the ecosystem and have no need for the advanced colour tools Resolve offers and have no need for the rest of the apps in the Adobe suite, then Final Cut is perfect for you!
