Getting More Responses From Your Cold Emails

If you’re in sales or you’re starting a new business, you most likely have sent a handful of cold emails and not gotten a response.

There are many formulas to get your cold emails read and responded to, such as correct subject line, finding the correct person to contact, structure etc. But I have noticed this one thing really helps and even works on me!

Compliment the company you're emailing! Let’s face it, we don’t like cold emails, especially the ones trying to sell you something or one of those “Increase your sales by 500%”...

So, here’s what you do, and I’m sure all of you are pros at this: Stalk the company/person you’re emailing! Go on their website, LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, blog etc and find something that you like or something that impressed you and mention it in your opening line. For example “ congratulations on the new position of marketing manager” or “ congrats on the award you won for XYZ”.

This shows that you did your research and genuinely care, which you should be doing anyway. You should be reaching out to companies you want to work with.

An important thing to acknowledge is that the first line of your email is the first thing the receiver sees before even opening the email on their phone/email app. Having something personal like a compliment will give your email a much bigger chance of being noticed and responded to.

So spend the extra effort and time and this will separate you from all those other cold emails that land in their inbox.
