There are multiple reasons why your client may ask for a discount, but a common one is that the client thinks that you are too expensive. This is going to be hard to hear, but sometimes, you need to walk away from these clients because there is a good chance that they do not value your service and they’ll probably expect a discount in the future.

If you don’t want to walk away and want to work with this specific client, instead of giving a discount, discuss narrowing down the scope of the project and the deliverables. It is also very important to discuss the budget early, here is a video we made on this.

It is important to sure you value your service and make sure your client does too.
